What's the role?

The focus of this role is leveraging your extensive Paid Social & Programmatic trading experience to lead and coach a team of performance managers to effectively deliver News Xtend performance campaigns, ensuring client marketing goals are achieved and budgets are delivered accurately and on time. The core outcomes of this role is client retention across all News Xtend clients and driving growth through identifying opportunities to upsell and cross sell campaigns in line with client objectives.


Additionally this role requires a strong leader to instill a culture of high performance, teamwork and collaboration, and being functionally responsible for delivering Xtend’s Paid Social and Programmatic activations. This role requires the ability to develop sound media strategies across Social & Programmatic platforms, harnessing the right mix of products, targeting and measurement to drive strong ROI for Xtend’s clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train, and develop social and programmatic experts to set up and manage campaigns following best practice guidelines.

  • Ensure campaigns are delivered accurately and on time and support the overall revenue goal of the business.

  • Ensure client campaigns are paced to budget and performance goals are achieved.

  • Provide direction and guidance to the Client Success team in executing paid social and programmatic strategies that deliver on client campaign objectives.

  • Develop an innovative performance technology roadmap that supports strengthened client outcomes, revenue growth and increased profitability.

  • Effectively manage the News Xtend technology stack with a focus on programmatic DSP’s ensuring future proofed around cookie depreciation.

  • Product Improvements - seek out new processes, technologies, and trends that deliver increased value for clients and improvements to performance.

  • Cross collaboration across various departments within News to achieve set and fluid outcomes.

  • Identify opportunities needed to deliver on the current and emerging marketing needs of Australian business owners and marketers.

  • Develop an operating rhythm and resourcing plan to maximise delivery and efficiently manage current and forecasted workload.

Who are you?

  • Minimum 5 years experience in performance marketing - programmatic and paid social. Specialisation in one channel is suitable but need experience in both

  • Proven leadership and people management capabilities and ability to build and nurture a high performance environment and develop people.

  • Deep technical knowledge and experience working across multiple buying platforms and 3rd party ad tech vendors.

  • Specialist experience in programmatic trading, ideally within a programmatic team or agency trading desk. Extensive experience managing programmatic campaigns within at least one major DSP

  • Detailed knowledge across the Meta Ads ecosystem from managing a scaled agency Business Manager through to Ads Manager, Events Manager and Creative Hub.

  • Have experience with reporting & data visualisation tools.

  • Experience across ad-server platforms and technologies.

  • Proven understanding of digital marketing principles and experience in omnichannel campaign delivery. Ability to interpret and disseminate attribution

  • Deep understanding of media and creative agencies inner workings.
